The Villavecchia Foundation is leading a new fundraising campaign through the website www.unavictoriadetodos.com for the second phase of development for its future children’s hospice. 

On November 8th we celebrated the solidarity concert celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Foundation at the basilica of Santa Maria del Mar. The recital, hosted by journalist Xavi Coral, counted with the collaboration of families and children with cancer and other grave illnesses. 

In the act of starting the development of the Pabellón de la Victoria, the voices of two siblings of children with grave illnesses were heard as they read out a manifesto. Hugo is the brother of Valentina, a young girl who died within a year of a congenital disease. Petra is the sister of Bruno, a young boy undergoing treatment in the Pediatric Palliative Care unit in Sant Pau. 

The first stone on this project has been placed by the presence of children with grave illnesses and their families, and begins a transformation of the ancient modernist pavilion of the historical recinto modernista of Sant Pau, becoming a pioneering children’s hospice. 

Updates on the creation of the first children's hospice in the country have been presented at this dinner, with developments starting at the end of October in the historic precinct of Sant Pau.

The event, which took place in the Hub Social Barcelona, has counted with the support of experts who shared tools to explore and facilitate the support given to students with grave illnesses.

Isabel Albendea joined the Foundation in 1996 as a social worker. In this interview, she tells us about lived experiences and what they represent for her to work 28 weeks accompanying children with cancer and other grave illnesses. 

Thousands of people showed up for another year to the Foundation’s stand in the center of Barcelona, with various companies sponsoring a special video for the Sant Jordi celebration. 

The support and donations across solidarity initiatives have increased by 29%
