Helicopter rides and therapy with dogs, new activities for survivors of childhood cancer.

12 · June · 2023

At the Villavecchia Foundation we keep working to offer special moments that will become unique memories, during and after the illness has been overcome.

This spring we have consolidated our commitment to young cancer survivors and have offered activities that allow children and youth who have beat cancer (alongside their families) fun activities and opportunities to make positive memories during and post-treatment.

One of these new activities includes helicopter rides in the vicinity of Montserrat, which we celebrate in May. 10 young participants from the program No Estás Sol@ (NES) and their families felt electrified by this fantastic experience which was carried out thanks to the collaboration with Helipistas Helicópteros, headquarters in Ultrasell. Apart from flying, adolescents and families enjoyed a filling breakfast, visited the helicopter fleet, and met with one of hte company’s pilots. You can see a recap of the event in this video.

In June, the children of the program No Estás Sol@ Infantil (NESI) enjoyed a fun experience with dogs in the gardens of the Villavecchia Foundation, in collaboration with Centro de Terapias Asistidas con Canes (CTAC). The assisted interactions with dogs are a therapeutic tool that contributes to the motivation of gravely ill children, reduces stress and anxiety, and betters their emotional state.

Also in June, our group of adolescents enjoyed a session of interactive theater under the title of “Learning to love without prejudice”, with the collaboration of La Rosa Foundation and Impactct Teatre. The youth shared reflections about the importance of respect, communication, and the confidence necessary to maintain healthy relationships. Next on our schedule includes activities centering on music and other sports, like an adapted outing on a sailboat, with the youngest cancer survivors. We will be sharing this on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter
