The pediatric palliative care teams supported by the Villavecchia Foundation finish their integration in the Servei Catala de Salut (Catalan Service Care)
We have made it. The second phase of deployment in the Red de Atención Paliativa Pediátrica Integral de Cataluña (XAPPI) and the units supported by the Villavecchia Foundation have integrated into the public service network in the Servei Català de la Salut.
In the last years, we have offered integral specialized assistance to children and youth with illnesses that pose a risk to their life, and have helped their families in the most difficult of times. We have done so with the support of the pediatric palliative care teams from various hospitals since 2016. Now, all of the teams have integrated into the Red Integral de Cuidados Paliativos Pediatricos (XAPPI) (Pediatric Palliative Care Integral Network). The most recent teams integrated, from hospitals of Sant Pau (Barcelona) and Germans Trías i Pujol (Badalona), have joined the healthcare system’s catalan service teams that joined in 2020: Sant Joan de Deu and Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona, and Parch Tauli in Sabadell.

Pediatric palliative care is based on the essential attention that is offered to underage youth who suffer from chronic illness, advanced and/or terminal, with the objective of improving their accommodations and quality of life, and to support and assist the people most close to them. Through the creation of the XAPPI, three assistance levels have been offered, with a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals, nursing, psychological and social support, all specially formed in pediatric and palliative care. Additionally, we have added the assistance from our volunteers team.
Now, we want to complete this network creating the Pabellón de la Victoria (Victoria Pavilion), a pioneering center for care of children and youth with incurable illnesses. You can help support at www.unavictoriadetodos.com
