The Fundación Villavecchia’s Saint Jordi charity event is a public and fundraising success once again.
Thousands of visitors, families, professionals and friends bought celebratory charity roses with 18 companies collaborating in the Sant Jordi campaign.
The Fundación Villavecchia’s Sant Jordi stand filled up the corner of Consell de Cent and Rambla de Catalunya once again, turning it into a space where love and solidarity walk hand-in-hand. Thousands of people visited the stand for another consecutive year to support our programs supporting children and youth with cancer and other grave illnesses. The sale of roses, roses and books, summed up with the support of 18 sponsoring companies, have helped us raise a donation total of 33.050,91€ ($38,148.66 USD / 53,146.54 CAD)
The stand, at which 41 unpaid volunteers showed up to help, had roses and rose bouquets, copies of the book The Fantastic Life by Dídac Bautista (who signed copies), and the services of “La Princesa de Trapo”, who offered face-painting for both children and adults.
Like previous years, this April 23rd we also uploaded a special video, sponsored by various supporting companies. The video showcases stories of dragons, knights, and princesses imagined by boys and girls who have suffered childhood cancer and have been helped by the Fundación Villavecchia. You can watch the video here:
The day’s success was made possible thanks to the work of all of our technical team at the Fundación and our volunteer team, with a special thanks to the 18 collaborative companies and organizations alongside the thousands of people who have reached out to support our programs in caring for children and youth with cancer and other grave illnesses. We especially thank Grupo Balsells, Century 21, Dasler, Hörmann, Matías Gomá Tomás, Tecnotramit, Vivisol Ibérica Catalunya, CDM Barcelona, Frame Zero, BSO for the sponsorship of the video, and the actress Glòria Cano for her essential support in the creation of the video for the Sant Jordi celebration.
Additionally, because of Sant Jordi we have also been able to decorate the Pediatrics floor in Sant Pau Hospital, and have been able to gift books for the boys and girls hospitalized, helping as always in bringing the celebrations and festivities of society into the hospital. We give thanks to the Pediatrics and Primary Care teams as well as the hospital wing’s teacher once more for their support in the Sant Jordi celebration.
