Yesterday, the Fundación Villavecchia celebrated their 26th edition of their Solidarity Dinner “Una Victoria de todos” (“A Victory for all”) in the hotel W Barcelona, in collaboration with Marriott Business Councils Northern Spain, an evening that gathered more than 460 people from collaborating organizations, representatives of primary hospitals, volunteers, and friends and family of the Fundación, as well as the families of children and youth with cancer and other grave illnesses.
The gala, with the recurring selfless collaboration of journalist Xavi Coral as host, helped raise 77,300 net euros, thanks to the dinner’s attendees, the sale of solidarity raffle tickets, and the support of many supportive organizations which have joined this annual benefit initiative.
A night to celebrate, remember, and encourage new projects.
The vice president of the Fundación, Andres Espinos, opened the night with revealing that in the last year alone, 1.089 families have received care through the different programs of the organization, created in 1989.
During the evening, a presentation took place of the new developments in the workforce and advancements of programs such as care for survivors of child cancer. In a context where 84% of children beat the illness, but often suffer physical, emotional, and social problems long term, the Fundación works to guarantee a continuing support system that includes psychosocial support after post-illness, mentorship, and orientations that help strengthen autonomy as well as social and work-related integration.
One of the central moments of the night was the presentation of the current state of development at Pabellón de la Victoria (Victoria Pavilion), the future center of pediatric palliative care for children with incurable illnesses, which will follow the model of an international hospice. The architectural project is led by the Carme Pinos’s studio, and one in operation, will integrate into the network of Atención Paliative Pediatrica Integrat of Cataluna, with the Hospital of Sant Pau assuming leadership.
Music and solidarity.
The evening included a performance by singer Gemma Hume’s, who performed the songs “Tu vas lluitar”, dedicated to young cancer survivors, and “Gemma”, which is about a young girl with a grave illness.
During the last moments of the gala, the Fundación Victoria de los Ángeles took the stage with the participation of soprano Mercedes Gancedo and pianist Quimey Urquiaga, who performed the Ave Maria de Schubert in an emotional homage to the children supported by the Fundación Villaecchia who have left us during the last year.
The traditional solidarity raffle (which gave out gastronomic experiences, hotel stays, luxury wine, beer, ham, a Nespresso coffee machine and two trips to Rome and Londo, with the support of Vueling and Marriott) was the final point of a night marked with commitment and generosity.
Shared commitment.
The Solidarity Dinner 2026 is possible through the collaboration with Marriott Business Councils Northern Spain and the support of innumerable organizations who reserved solidarity tables and donated directly to the project.
With the 77,300 net euros fund raised, the Fundación Villavecchia will be able to continue run their support programs offering psychosocial care to children with grave illnesses and their families, launching the care program for young cancer survivors and uplifting the Pabellón de la Victoria, a pioneering project in Cataluna in the world of pediatric palliative care.
