From modernist heritage to an innovative children's hospice.

This pavilion, drawn out by Louis Domenech i Montaner in 1905 and built by Pete Domenech i Roura in 1922, forming part of a group named Patrimonio Mundial by UNESCO (World Heritage). Originally conceived to care for young girls with illness, it was later turned into a Pediatric pavilion and is now being transformed into a space catered to the current needs of pediatric palliative care.

More than a century after its inicial construction, this historic building will host the first children's hospice of Cataluña, bolstered by the Fundación Villavecchia after decades of experience in supporting families and children with grave illnesses.

A space to care for life until the end

The future children's hospice will offer services for the ease of family life, rest, emotional support, therapeutic games, and support for the last days of life. The center will contamine six rooms for respite care, two family homes for the last days of life, day spaces, play and therapy zones, and comunal spaces including a garden.

With the capacity to host 400 families each year, many in vulnerable situations, the project has become a benchmark in the humanización of special care and the raising of awareness of pediatric palliative care. A pioneering project that caters architecture to service care, dignity, and medical care; turning the Pabellón de la Victoria (Victory Pavilion) into a unique space in our country.
