Cultural and sports personalities give their support for the Pabellón de la Victoria (Victoria Pavilion)
The Villavecchia Foundation is leading a new fundraising campaign through the website www.unavictoriadetodos.com for the second phase of development for its future children’s hospice.
Today, World Children’s Day, we have given a new push on the developments at the Pabellon de la Victoria. Ever since the start of the first phase of development (the first “foundation stone” that gathered authorities, collaborators, families and sick children this past October 28th), we have set a goal to raise 1 million euros to cover the investment in 2025 for the second phase. To help raise these necessary funds, we have launched the campaign “Una victoria de todos” (“A ‘Victoria’ for all”).
The campaign includes a video with supportive messages and various personalities of culture and sport from around the world: actress Belén Rueda, actor Carlos Latre, football (soccer) coach Luis Enrique Martinez, extensionist and sports commentator Álex Corretja, as well as model and reporter Martina Klein. The video and website www.unavictoriadetodos.com also gives voice to medical experts and families of children with grave illnesses.
Developments at the Pabellón de la Victoria (Victoria Pavilion)!
Mothers like Belén Rueda who have lived with the grave illness and the death of a child, can be supported by the specialized care that will be offered at the Pabellón de la Victoria: “The companionship, emotional support, and rest contribute to the overwhelming state of having a child with an illness threatening their life,” explains Rueda. “At the Pabellón de la Victoria [(Victoria Pavilion)], 400 families will be assisted each year, many of them in vulnerable situations.”
The care model of a hospice has been seen in Europe and throughout the world, but in our country there is no specialized center for children that offer spaces for respite care and integral attention to pediatric palliative care. To quote actor Carlos Latre in the campaign video for “Una victoria de todos”: “The UK has 50 centers with these characteristics. We do not have a single one in our country!”.

The children with grave illnesses and their families need a space where they can rest, and have it resemble a second home. For this need, the Pabellon de la Victoria will have six respite care rooms. Martina Klein affirms, “Together we can make sure that children with incurable illnesses can have the best quality of life possible.” Alex Corretja touches on the idea of professional assistance and companionship for families: “The parents of these gravely ill children need support in these most difficult of moments.” The Pabellon de la Victoria will be a pioneering building that, apart from respite care spaces, will offer two family apartments for the last days of life and specialized care during grieving.
The Xana Foundation is responsible for 15% of the funds for the creation of this children’s hospice. In the words of its founder, Luis Enrique Martinez: “We must care for children with grave illnesses that cannot be cured. To create a center to care for their lives is a victory for all.
