“Som Villavecchia”, the Villavecchia Foundation campaign for this International Childhood Cancer Day
The TV spot reflects the importance of ensuring that children continue to play and have fun even throughout illnesses that limit their lives.
Children with grave illnesses assisted by the Villavecchia Foundation are the protagonists of the campaign “Som Villavecchia” (“We are Villavecchia”), that will be shown this week through TV3 for International Childhood Cancer Day (February 15th) and will also be accessible through our YouTube channel, as well as the screens of the Barcelona Metro stations (until February 28).
To ensure that children exist beyond their illness is one of the core objectives that drive the Villavecchia Foundation, offering help, assistance, activities, play and much more to the children who face a grave illness. “And to do it together makes us feel bigger”, to reference the song provided by Àlex Pérez and Música Global for the occasion.
The TV spot, which was shot inside the Recinto Modernista of Sant Pau, includes the participation of Yareli, Marc, Paula, Charlie, Matilda, Victoria, and Bruno (with his sister Petra), under the direction of CDM Barcelona and Framezero.
The campaign is titled “Som Villavecchia” (“We are Villavecchia”) in an effort to reflect all that we are. The Villavecchia Foundation is synonymous with Help in the most difficult of moments, working to better the quality of life of children with cancer and their families; it is like a family that accompanies the young patients and their families through all the phases of illness; it is synonymous with Palliative Care, because we have uplifted the pediatric palliative care of various catalan hospitals; it is Child Oncology because we have assisted children with cancer and, adjacent to these efforts, the Foundation ensures that more medics can specialize in this study of childhood cancer, offering formative scholarships and support to their research.

The campaign demonstrates the children who were or are gravely ill playing and joyful, because we consider that play, music, and leisure activities form an essential part of the lives of every child, including those who have been diagnosed with a grave illness. The Villavecchia Foundation incorporates music-therapy, leisure and play activities as essential aspects to their care. These are aspects that will be incorporated in the future Foundation center, the Pabellon de la Victoria (Victoria Foundation), a pioneering children’s hospice that will be inaugurated in 2026 due to support by society at large.
Additionally, volunteers at the Villavecchia Foundation accompany the children in both their stay at the hospital as well as the Pediatric play room, supplying fun moments during long treatment processes. To accompany, listen, play…are important actions that should be taken during the treatment of any illness, and especially so with the youngest of children.
