Volunteers
We would especially like to thank all those volunteers who have helped out at the Foundation since 1989, dedicating their time to assisting these children and their families.
The Volunteer Programme.
The team is made up of some 300 volunteers who with hope and commitment cater for the needs of children and young adults suffering from cancer and haematological illnesses - as well as those of their families.
Our programmes and plans of action are always coordinated with the different hospitals to reach the children, adolescents and young adults suffering from other long-term and chronic illnesses – and who are experiencing difficulties and have serious needs.
Objective of the Volunteer Programme
To take care of all the needs of the children and young adults suffering from long-term illness. A better quality of life is provided by continuous assistance during the entire illness.
Candidates:
- Children and young adults from 0 to 18 years of age who have been diagnosed with cancer and haematological diseases - as well as other long-term illnesses. This goes from diagnosis, through to treatment, follow-up, any relapse and then the final stages of their lives for those who require hospital assistance or help at home.
- All the work undertaken by the Foundation is directed at sick children and young adults. As noted this also includes assistance for the families.
Geographical Area of Activities:
The Enriqueta Villavecchia Foundation works in close coordination with the following hospitals:
- San Juan de Dios de Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona.
- Hospital Vall d’Hebron de Barcelona.
- Hospital de Sant Pau de Barcelona.
- Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol de Badalona.
- Hospital Parc Taulí de Sabadell.
- Hospital Clinic de Barcelona (for young adults over 18).
All the programmes are executed for families from all over Catalonia, for people further afield who stay in the Foundation’s apartments
