IMPROVING INTEGRAL ATTENTION OF HOSPITALIZED CHILDREN
The children hospitalized in centers in Catalunya where oncological treatments are performed are undoubtably well taken care of with respect to health and personal care. However, considering that it is necessary to treat all aspects of the child’s illness, the Foundation takes a special interest in working with the hospitals to achieve integral attention for children following oncological treatment.
Some of the improvements instituted in different hospitals include:
- Construction work and remodelling of the Sant Frederic waiting room in the Pediatric Department of the Hospital de Sant Pau.
- Conditioning of play rooms: one in the Hospital de Sant Pau, Two in the Hospital Materno Infantil de la Vall d’Hebró and one in the Hospital Sant Joan de Deu.
- Isolation chambers for bone marrow transplants.
- Installation of televisions and videos in the hospital rooms.
- Portable computers for hospitalized children for both educational and recreational use.
- A lending library for the children to borrow books, videotapes, games, etc.
