  • Programme of Hospital Improvements

    Work carried out:

    • Supply of equipment.
    • Donation or loans of material.
  • Support Programme for Families and Social Work

    Work carried out:

    • The supply of accommodation for families requiring relocation.

The Foundation has apartments for families or relatives who live in distant areas, it finances these temporary stays and covers all the expenses. These apartments are available subject to reports submitted by social workers from the different hospitals.

These apartments are totally subsidized by the Foundation.

There are seven apartments in Barcelona:

    • Three for the families of children in the Vall d’Hebrón hospital.
    • Three for the families of children being treated in the Santa Creu and Sant Pau hospital.
    • There is one in Esplugues de Llobregat for the families of children being treated in the Sant Joan de Déu hospital.
  • Financial Help – to assist families with limited resources.

The treatment of child cancers incurs additonal expenses that some families cannot afford. For this reason the foundation arranges financial support to meet the increase in expenses due to travel, absence from work, diet and accommodation.

Since 1993 an important part of the budget has been assigned to assist families who cannot afford the extra expenses generated by the children’s illness, and especially those who are terminally ill. This is based on reports submitted by the social workers of the different hospitals.

  • Information and Guidance on available resources.

We should highlight the important role of our social workers who counsel families and establish priorities when assigning financial help.
